Joyous Music School is a professional music school that trains pianists, composers, instrumentalists and others who have made an indelible mark on cultural life in the community.

At the heart of the Joyous Music School’s reputation for excellence is a faculty of distinguished artist-teachers. The challenge they embrace is a complex one: to nurture each aspiring artist toward the fullest expression of his or her talent and to foster each individual’s creativity and intellectual curiosity.

Joyous Music School offers private instruction in Piano, Flute, Violin, Cello and Composition. The study is complemented by classes in music theory, ear training and music performance. The studio provides an atmosphere where artistic gifts and technical skill can flourish.

Each year, Herald Music School presents up to 20 concerts which are performed by faculties and students in venues such as the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Town Hall. The school also holds regular concert tours in Europe and Asia. Director Julian Yu believes that, by providing talented students with opportunities to perform in world class venues, it adds further encouragement to the serious students who are dedicated to music and wishes to pursue their study.

Joyous的老师们认为，钢琴演奏是一種很有說服力的表演藝術，演奏者需要通過一個好的演奏者可以通過音樂讓人流淚，或使人振奮。我們鼓勵學生不要從一個學生的角度來對待音樂，而是從一個演奏家的觀點來思考。要運用自己的主見、想像力、判斷力和創造力來征服自己的觀眾。音乐演奏課對年幼的學生也是很好的一個機會學習怎樣在公眾的場合與人交流、演奏、談自己的想法等等。

學習音樂的過程當中學生逐漸從對技術的掌握轉變成對音樂的理解，這不但有助於提高學生的演奏水平，培養其對音樂的喜愛，更能增加藝術方面的修養。當你在學習演奏鋼琴的時候，只有對自己所學的內容有一種更深的了解以後才會對其發生感情。我們要培養學生不但能夠「彈」奏乐器，也能夠「談」論音樂。也就是對音樂有見解。他非常喜欢的格言是；「音樂如同生命，你得到什麼取決於如何去演奏」。

为了让学生们能够有更多的机会来展现音乐上的才华，角声音乐学院每年为学生推出近十五场音乐会。其中包括每年六月在卡内基音乐厅和十二月在林肯中心的交响音乐会，得到音乐界专业人士极度的好评。俞总监表示：我们不只是教学生去动一下手指。我们教的是音乐表演艺术。这是在概念上和其他人最大的不同。钢琴大师班以往的学生音乐会的标准是整个纽约最高的，角声音乐学院将会延续和发展这个特点，培养出更多的音乐人才，推出更多，更好的音乐会。
